The idea of the European unification is an idea that is accepted by all communities and societies in the region and this is the reason we decided to base the activities precisely on this idea with the conference. Fifty-eight (58) active young leaders from 16 countries (Macedonia, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, France, Greece, Germany, Kosovo, Montenegro, Italy, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia and Turkey) gathered in Krusevo from 15th to 19th of September 2017 to discuss how young leaders can support the EU integration process in the SEE region. We are trying to bring European values closer to young people in our societies and to initiate cooperation and joint actions related to common issues in the everyday life of young people. Throughout the conference in the past 15 years, over 900 different participants, orators, politicians, experts and guests took active part. Many joint projects were initiated, and many sustainable partnerships were created, on which we are very proud, but also, many personal friendships which everlasting are were established here. During the 5 days of the conference the following topics were covered: Future of SEE in focus; Youth in the decision-making processes; Human rights – diversity and inclusiveness; Education in action and Sustainable ideas. Details about the conference program you can find at the conference program.
The top highlights of the 15th edition of the conference
are the followings:
-Accelerate the large infrastructure projects that are economically viable projects that have
special symbolic significance such as the highway between Serbia, Kosovo and Albania;
- Critical education can help students to ask the right questions and evaluate. That should be one
of the goals for Europe of the future;
- The positive promise is in civil society. This is the place where you can do something yourself,
the place where you can learn about how to participate in politics, how to change something in your
own community, how to help others, and civil society is the place where you feel like you can make a
change happen;
- Feminism could be a base for all political movements as it is not only struggle for emancipation
of women; it is struggle and process of producing solidarity to all groups which are victims of
oppression;
- Take benefit from informal and non-formal education; involve yourselves in volunteerism; Job
shadowing, job centres and social youth mediators;
- The way out is to become part of European research area, to consolidate the resources,
infrastructures in one single research institute which will be supported by the state. If the state
finds out that the development of the connected directly to the research and higher education, they
will start thinking about changing their policy about financing higher education and research.
